A giant radioactive octopus terrorizes the Pacific, ultimately attacking San Francisco.
Martin PBM-5 Mariner
Used to search for the survivors of a ship the octopus destroyed. Later, the same plane or one like it is used to search for the octopus in San Francisco Bay.

Flies Pete and Lesley from San Francisco to Astoria to investigate a possible sighting of the octopus.


Hiller HTE-2
Flies John to an airfield near the Golden Gate Bridge. Same helicopter later joins a Sikorsky HO3S-1 in performing observational duties during the octopus' attack on the city. It crashes into one of the octopus' tentacles and is destroyed.
