The title aircraft is a heavily modified Aérospatiale Gazelle designed "The Special."
Bell 206 JetRanger
Several are seen throughout the film. Most are police helicopters although Murphy and Lymangood fly a civilian one in one scene.

Seen on the police station helipad.
