Possibly a Lockheed Hudson used by Royal Canadian Air Force?
No. 119 Squadron RCAF used them for anti-submarine duty over the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Ocean around Nova Scotia where some of the filming was carried out.

Only 50% certain, needs confirmation, but visibly looks the same to me.

- I agree with the aircraft ID above. i also think that:
http://impdb.org/index.php?title=File:49th_Parallel_1.png
is the civilian version, Lockheed Model 14.
- Shifted the photos around a bit as well cos there's actually another different aircraft in there, notice the single vertical stabilizer.

I've seached for the remaining aircraft with the single tail and the closest I can come is the Douglas Digby Mark I which served with the RCAF on submarine patrol duty from about 1939-1940. According to Wikipedia 20 RCAF Douglas Digbys were in service based on the USAAC Douglas B-18 Bolo, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_B-18_Bolo.
