Commissaire Maigret is a fiction character invented by novelist Georges Simenon. He is an imposing, large shoulders surly style man who takes his time for resolving investigations. “Blanquette de veau” meal and beer amateur, inveterate pipe smoker, he likes feeling the atmosphere and absorbing the events for leading an inquiry. His techniques of investigation is based on understanding of protagonists personalities and their interactions in the affairs while he leaves himself lead by his instinct.
