The Bereznyak-Isayev BI-1 was a soviet research and development of rocket-powered aircraft. The airframe was designed under the leadership of engineers A. Ya. Bereznyak and A. M. Isaev. The Dushkin D-1A-1100 liquid-fuel rocket motor was designed by Leonid Dushkin. He later developed it into a RD-2M engine. The first flight occured on 02 May 1942 and was followed by eleven others before the end of the war, some with the DM-4 ramjets on wingtips. Despite performances ahead those of piston engined fighters, the very short time of powered flight made it unsuitable for front line service.
Eight prototypes of the Bereznyak-Isayev BI-1 were built.
This page lists all films that feature a variation of the Bereznyak-Isayev BI-1.
