CALEDONIAN/BUA was created in November 1970 as a result of the merger of Caledonian Airways and BUA. Before adopting the British Caledonian name, in September 1971 the new airline legally constituted two separate entities Caledonian Division an BUA Division for accounting purposes.
After this interim period, all former BUA aircraft were repainted adopting Caledonian's livery featuring a prominent Scottish Lion Rampant on its aircraft's fins.
