The Kamov Ka-226 is a twin-turbine (Turbomeca Arrius) version of the successful reciprocating-engined Kamov Ka-26. The interchangeable mission pod, rather than a conventional cabin, allowing the use of various accommodation or equipment configurations which made the success of Kamov Ka-26 is again the basis of the airframe. This model is under production since 2002 (note : there was a Kamov Ka-126 with one TVO-100 turboshaft engine positioned on top of fuselage of which only 17 have been manufactured between 1988 and 1991).
