This Polish aircraft manufacturer was founded in Warsaw in 1928 as a state-owned company. During World War Two, German Military Administration destroyed this industry. The new Communist government has forbidden the use of PZL and new aerospace factories were named WSK until the end of the end of stalinist period. The variety of different factories then were renamed individually but now retaining the PZL as part of their name (but the process sometimes was applied only during the 1990's).
