Based on the true story of a Soviet missile that crashed at Lake Inari in 1984, the film stars Niina, an archivist for the local newspaper who has just recently left her abusive husband, and finds new confidence and strength in both her career and her personal life.

The story is based on the true events of the Lake Inari incident which occured on 28 December 1984. The difference was that the real missile had broken through the ice and sunk to the bottom of the lake, where it was nevertheless spotted and fished out.
