Note: This is an animated film. The aircraft shown in it are therefore not actual aircraft, however, where a reasonable depiction of an actual aircraft has been created, it has been identified as best as possible.

Note: This film contains primarily fictional aircraft. Where appropriate, aircraft have been identified according to their fictional names.

Referring the two real prototypes, some specific layout : the different wing shape (double delta and inverted gull plan) and the nose armament and the nearly "teardrop" canopy and the pusher propeller (a 8-bladed contra-rotating instead the real 6-bladed). Additional air intakes too are different.

The Santa Cruz (Fictional Aircraft)

The general shape but the tail is closed the single seat Nakajima Ki-87, a Japanese high-altitude fighter-interceptor which made its maiden flight on April 1945.
Here the airframe has two seats (back to back) and (as like as the French SNCASE SE.100) the twin triangular tailfins (but they don't housed the tail wheel). Another difference with the Ki-87 : the Nakajima prototype got a large turbo-supercharger only on the right side when the Santa Cruz has two smaller ones, one on each side.
The most surprising gear is the taildragger undercarriage but unconventional because the wheel could be replaced by floats (and vice versa !) during the flight !

The retractable floats (here themselves still folded in three parts) and wheels are using the same wheel wells !
